25th September, Wednesday - Mom, I found a cowrie!

Today's blogger is Tamlyn.

We had grey skies and a few showers this morning but still had some fun on the beach and played games, read, painted rocks and swam.

We missed our snorkeling trip because of lunch but were happy lounging around the pool enjoying our books and Cara finally got her coconut!!

Later we took a long walk along the beach, through the cemetery with a view, past a temple (under construction with pretty decorative scaffolding), some sleeping dogs, mansions and shacks along the very narrow, busy road dodging buses and taxis to get to the neighbouring fishing village, Cap Malheureux.

We visited Notre Dame Auxiliatrice— the picturesque red roofed church, had a swing, watched a couple having their wedding photos taken on the beach, learnt about the various fish caught and sold locally at the fish market and about the cowrie shell killing the coral reefs.

The girls had lots of fun seeing who could find the most cowrie shells on our walk back and told me every single time they found one!! 30 in total!!

We watched the sunset on the beach again then headed to the pool for cocktails...
